Geocache Description:

Another cache in the vicinity of MMWR. Not many folks have ventured out there, and of the ones that have I don't think any have taken my suggested route. This cache will likely change that.

If you thought MMWR was on top of the hill, you are incorrect. THIS cache is on top of Flagstaff Hill. The three stages will lead you down the trail and you will end up less than 1000 feet from MMWR. In fact, the final stage of this cache is where I originally hid MMWR. But I later changed my mind and moved it, thus vacating this spot.

So you may be wondering why the terrain on MMWR is a 4.5 and this one is a 4. I can answer that for you:
1) MMWR was given it's rating with respect to mtn biking difficulty.
2) Less than 1000 vertical feet of climbing and a trail to the cache does not equate to a terrain 4.5 cache.
3) Terrain ratings can tend to be relative, and since I've since done Rubicon Joe I may never come across another terrain 4.5 cache again .
If anything, you could argue that MMWR lives up to it's T4.5 due to the length of the trip.

Of course, you can almost always take a lower terrain rating and make it higher if you wish. Here are a few suggestions to make this a terrain 4.5 if you wish:
  • Ride your bike
  • Bushwhack
  • Attempt in triple digit heat (I really don't suggest this, but for those of you who MUST make it more difficult, this will surely zap all of your energy!)

So.....why don't I edit the terrain for MMWR?
Because those who done it have earned it in one way or another and it just ain't right to take away any of those terrain stars!

I should digress and move on to THIS cache. It's a three stage multi. Once you get to the starting coordinates, finding the stages should be easy.

At stage one - YES, this is the actual "Mickey Mouse trail". Keep following it, it does get a bit wider.

I don't know why I'm doing this as it cuts down the difficulty, but here is my usual route. It is suggested you climb the more gradual eastern trail so you can reach the peak and go from trash to cache and do the stages in order rather than the other way around. Familiarity with UTM grids will help even more.
On the other hand, from the amount of visitors who have been here, I suppose it could be coined a mental challenge.

  • First stage is in a small tupperware container.
  • Second stage is a cylindrical container approx 4 inches long and 2 inches in diameter.
  • Final stage is a medium size tupperware container.

This cache is part of a series within a series. Please make note of the coordinates and hints on the laminated tag for The Mystery Machine. Once you find The Mystery Machine there will be another clue to the much bigger Don’t forget to check out the final Snookered By The O.C.G. - Magic 8 Ball.
Oh - one other note...if any of the tags you find refer to "Community Chest", that is what you are looking for. That was the previous name before it got changed to The Mystery Machine.
