Geocache Description:

Welcome to Mineral Lake Park!

This great little community park is located in the heart of Middlefield Village, which in turn sits in the Geauga County township of the same name. Middlefield Township is the place I currently call home. A few years ago, when I wasn't quite so busy at work, I would come to Mineral Lake Park to eat lunch with some friends about once a week. The park has recently undergone some renovation and many of the trees were torn out so that paved trails and more parking spots could be put in place. Mineral Lake Park offers a wide range of amenities, including picnic shelters, several playgrounds for kids, baseball and softball fields, basketball and volleyball courts, a skate park, horse and buggy parking, restrooms, and catch and release fishing in Mineral Lake.

Posted hours are from 6 AM to 10 PM, but I would be extremely cautious if caching after dark, as Middlefield's Finest like to make surprise visits when they see strange people in the park after sunset. Just try not to look strange! The park is situated between Sperry Lane and Grove Street off of Lake Avenue. There are several parking places along Sperry, but the best parking for both stages of this multi-cache is in the lot off of Grove Street at N 41° 27.530 W 081° 04.760.

This is a short two-stage multi-cache which will take you about halfway through the park, and very close to the park's namesake. Please use discretion when searching for both stages of this multi, as there is the potential for high muggle activity near both sites. GPS reception at the final location may be difficult to get at times. The final cache coordinates were averaged over several visits. Please replace all stages exactly as you found them and enjoy your visit to this great little park.

This cache is one of six in a series that you will need to find to determine the final coordinates of "70's One-Hit Wonders: Have a Nice Day!" Each of these six caches contains a set of lyrics from a song that was made popular by a one-hit wonder group or solo artist in the 1970's. All of the lyric clues can be found in the log sheets. Using this small section of the song, you must determine the song title and ultimately the year that the song reached its highest position on Billboard magazine's Top 40 list. The last digit of that year will be the number you seek to gain the final cache's coordinates.

Although some of the songs may have been remade by contemporary artists, each song was originally made popular in the 1970's, and the year of its popularity is what you must find. Please do not give away any of the lyrics, song titles, or years in your logs or they may be deleted! However, if you had a favorite song by a one-hit wonder of the 1970's, or just a favorite 1970's song in general, please feel free to mention it in your find log.

All of these caches were placed in October of 2006, to commemorate the year of Geauga County's bicentennial. I hope you enjoy your caching journey through the beautiful and historic Geauga County. Watch for the special bicentennial banners as you make your way between cache locations. If you find all of the caches in the series, including the final, you will have visited at least six of the sixteen townships in Geauga County, including a trip through Middlefield Village.

Note that some of the hints for these caches are actually song titles from 70's one-hit wonders, along with their year of popularity. These hints will not help you solve the lyrics or the puzzle to determine the final cache location, but hopefully they will help you find the cache at hand if you're having difficulty.
