Geocache Description:

A puzzle cache for music lovers.

The cache is not at the posted coordinates

Musical Trinity 1 - The first in a series of caches based on the confluence of music, CDs and geocaches.  Popular and rock music are featured.

To find the cache, you will first need to acquire the CD key to the puzzle.  The CD, entitled "Musical Trinity 1", contains some great music you will need to listen to in order to answer some questions.

I will attempt to keep a CD or two in the following caches:

The Geography Club      Silver Silo

When you have completed solving the puzzle, please return the CD to the above cache or a cache in the same area.  Here are the questions to ponder as you listen:

________________________________________________

How many years ago were the cufflinks purchased?    K = ____

Although the weather's fine, ELO presage a potential _______ shower.  How many letters?    L = ____

This Great Lakes freighter was carrying _____ tons on the night of her doom.    M = ____

This singer, whose face is to the wind, has been a member of the prominent band ________  ________.  How many letters in the first word?    N = ____

Jerry, who likes to ride in white sports cars, has chosen to be a _______  _______ as an occupation.  How many total letters (not counting the space)?    O = ____

In this rodential song, Ian Anderson pays homage to a famous Scottish poet's work which begins, "Wee, sleekit, cow'rin, tim'rous beastie".  What was this poet's year of birth?    P = ____

Tori will follow you over this hill.  How many feet will she climb to the top?    Q = ____  Note:  Wikipedia now contains 2 elevation figures.  Use the highest.

________ is a good month for dressing up as a rocket.  What is this month's number in the calendar year?    R = ____

This former president makes a brief cameo appearance.  In what year was he born?    S = ____

One of the artist's names in this collection contains a number.  What is the number?    T = ____

In a song by the Simple Minds, four years are referred to.  What is the total of the last two digits of these 4 years?    U = ___

Zero hour:  __ AM    V = ____

________________________________________________

When you have answered the questions, plug your numbers into the following coordinates:

N  40 AB.CDE

W 111 FG.HIJ

Where:

A = K - L

B = M / 6,500

C = N

D = O / 2

E = P - 1,756

F = Q - 127

G = R - 3

H = S / 273

I = T

J = (U + V + 3) / 38

You now have the coordinates for the cache.  To check your accuracy, perform a checksum test:

A + B + C + D + E + F + G + H + I + J = 55

Notes:

There is one question per song on the CD.  The order is random.

The Internet is your friend.

Email me if you get stuck or (after logging the cache) for a track listing.

Please return the CD to a cache in the northeast part of Salt Lake.  Don't leave it in "Musical Trinity 1" or a nightmare of recursion will result leading to The End Of The World As We Know It!

If you enjoyed this puzzle cache, try the next in the series, Musical Trinity 2.

Have fun and enjoy the music!
