We found this on 5 July 2018.  After finding "Hunt" your Tractor, we got the necessary information to figure out the location of this cache.  Since then, "Hunt" has been archived, and you can figure out the coords from the cache page.  The best thing about this cache is the wonderful location, one of my favorite trails and spots....a beautiful spot!

"FIND Yo Tractor"

We found this on 13 March 2014. This is a great historic cache deep in the rugged Grassy Ridge area on the edge of the Southern Nantahala Wilderness. We followed a few trails, but did quite a bit of bushwhacking to get the cache area. Fantastic views of Pickens Nose and other landmarks could be found from the ridge line. This one takes quite a bit of effort, but it was well worth it! An absolutely phenomenal cache!

21 3/4 Mile Marker

We found this on 4 August 2012.  Another challenging find at the end of a very rough ATV trail at the end of Webb Creek Rd. just north of Andrews, NC. Although we hiked, and didn't 4-wheel to the cache site, we had great fun with this one. The rain came down on us, and it took quite a bit of searching to find it. This is a great location and this "lonely" cache is well worth the effort!

Adventurechicks wild drive.

We found this on 31 October 2015.  This is one of the most beautiful areas of North Carolina.  The day we hunted this we found a very large bear paw print in the mud on our way into the cache.  The cache itself was a very tough find, but overall, this was a very rewarding experience.

Beaverdam Gap

We found this one on 13 December 2014.  This cache is on FS #75 on the way to the Snowbird backcountry.  The Big Snowbird Creek here at the site of the cache is extraordinarily picturesque.  Although this cache wasn't particularly challenging, it was in a fantastic place, and hence, it is on this list!

Big Snowbird

We found this on 3 December 2011.  This is probably one of the best mountain top views of any I have seen. I hiked this with three non-cacher friends on a snow-covered day. It took us a while to find the cache, but overall, this was a fantastic experience!!

Boteler Peak/Shooting Creek Bald

We found this on 7 May 2012. This is the "little sister" to Perfection. Also along the Beech Creek trail, next to another beautiful waterfall. Like Perfection, this one has a challenging scramble and a very well-hidden cache at the end. Magnificent!

Eden

We found this on 21 November 2015. This cache is a long, long way down a remote Forest Service Road.  It is also a very challenging find.  We almost gave up on it until we finally stumbled on to it.  Definitely one of the most challenging hides we have found!

Have any Luck?

We found this one on 31 January 2021.  This cache is on this list because of the amazing puzzle.  This took us about 5 months of head-scratching before we finally went down the right road to solve this one.  Once you solve it, you really appreciate it!!

It's Time for a Movie

We found this on 14 April 2012. This is another "island cache" on Lake Nottely. Like most of our favorites, this one was very hard to find, and it took us two tries. We always love island caches, and this one is probably the most challenging one we have done!

Kayak Series Island/Peninsula

We found this 30 September 2017.  This can be a hard one to get to, but luckily, after a creek crossing and some bushwhacking we found an old logging road that brought us to this wonderful area....with another nice creek crossing at the end!  We also saw quite a few fall wildflowers on this track, definitely one of our favorites!!!

lost in the shadows of loving good

We did this one on 23 May 2015.  This was the last stage of one of the neatest series in the mountains.....highlighting many of the TVA structures and using a theme from the TV series "Lost".  Many of these caches are a bit tough to find, especially after a couple of years of sediment, but it is a wonderful series.  This last one features the Appalachia Lake area!

Lost Series #7: The Submarine port

We finished this on 12 July 2014.  This is the ultimate mountain geocache, extraordinarily creative and very, very tough....a 5/5 through and through.  It took us a couple of days to complete this one, from the Nantahala gorge to Fontana.  The stages highlight some very historically significant places, and some of the stages will definitely challenge you physically....including a particularly scary stage 3!  Once again, OrthoGuy dominates this top 20 list!

Mystery of Fontana

We found this one on 11 March 2014.  A remarkable and challenging cache which requires some tough terrain navigation.  The final destination is a gorge with an "out of this world" landscape.  One of the best caches I have ever done!

Notions of Solitude

We found this on 16 May 2012. This one took me two tries. A fantastic waterfall at the end of a long uphill hike along the Beech Creek Trail, culminating with a steep scramble next to the falls. Tough and memorable!!

Perfection

We found this on 28 January 2012. Another great OrthoGuy cache!! The Chunky Gal Trail, especially in this spot between Tuni Creek and Tusquittee Bald, is one of the most beautiful trail stretches around. We found this one easily, which is unusual for an OrthoGuy cache, but this is definitely one of the best caches we have found.

Politically Incorrect

We found this on 13 December 2014.  This is probably one of the toughest, most physically demanding caches around.  This multi is in the Snowbird backcountry area, and tours some fantastic waterfalls, including Sassafras Falls, Middle Falls & Big Falls.  The trails are very sketchy and there are quite a few creek crossings as well.  The full tour is around 11 - 12 miles, assuming you don't get lost.  This is definitely one of the most rewarding caches we have done....you would expect nothing less from an OrthoGuy cache!

Snowbird

We found this on 1 October 2011. I hiked this one with three non-caching friends on a day when the winds were howling at 25 - 30 miles per hour. The temperature at the top was around 44 degrees. The Rim Trail is one of my favorite trails, and this particular stretch of it is both challenging and beautiful. A great view awaits at the top of the ridge!!

The Shortoff Challenge

We found this on 1 January 2015.  This is a challenging cache with some difficult-to-find stages, but overall it is a wonderful multi that takes you all over the Nantahala River & Lake area, as well as Wayah Bald.  Spectacular views await, and a sense of real satisfaction when it is completed!

Ulagu's Trek

We found this on 10 November 2018.  This cache is on the property of Camp Frank Merrill and can be accessed a couple of different ways.  We parked on the adjacent Forest Service Road to the east of the Army Base, and entered by going up the bank.  This is a beautiful area, and it is always fun to find a lonely ammo can in the woods!
