Weee-ooo-ee! School's just around the corner, but rygemini, Little_Nemesis and I weren't about to let the summer fade quietly into the woods without out at least one more geo-palooza, cache-festing, mile-hopping smiley-frenzied geocaching smack down! This would be the fifth of 95 caches for the day, spanning 15 hours, 3 challenge finals, a number of Thomas Guide pages, more than 6 high level d/t matrix finds, and even a coin challenge. When you throw in a few trees, a fence or two, an ice machine and even toss in tossing up Little_Nemesis to grab a few finds, this 320+ d/t star-day was a BLAST. All that was missing was our good buddy, VikingChick92, who couldn't make the trip.

This and the original cache plaque have been on the wish list since nearly the beginning of my caching awareness experiences. What a great way to start off the day. Little Nemesis wanted to make sure that the Original Cache Plaque was her 900th cache, so we couldn't even LOOK at

Waughhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! Sniffle. Sniffle. Sob. Little_Nemesis and I recognized immediately the significance of these new caches and couldn't resist chancing the rain to go for both the first to finds and helping out our animal challenges. Alas, this one was just not to be. We also searched for a bit with another cacher, who I was pretty sure was BlazingthroughtheWoods, but I wasn't quite sure and when he recognized me, I froze, unable to make the connection. Must have been the DNF frustration smacking me in the face. So, sorry about my awkward "um...yea..hi..." I walked away, saying to Little Nemesis, "I think it was him, but I didn't want to be wrong and say the wrong name." The name of this cache, however, is too alluring. I am sure we'll be back. :P

Out and about on President's Day, slogging after 90 or so smilies on what turned out to be a very wet, muddy, rainy, sometimes cold, and leaf- ridden caching frenzy. Good old fashioned fun. Pretty much at the end of our day and grabbing a few more random smilies. Very nice to meet 1/2 of the CO's at GZ. Much appreciate the hide and it's creativity! Gave me much to reflect upon! TFTC.

Trail was packed with cachers tonight from start to finish!  Following DocDTA, Dkestral and, I believe, the Captain, the boys and I got all three in the park, which was a lot of fun. I was really never sure which one we were finding. Just following the markers and the ghouls on the trails. TFTC.

I'm getting pretty good at this "almost" FTF deal. Missed it by less than 3-4 minutes, I'm guessing (possibly even seconds). At first I thought it was all mine, but jvb000003 must have been picking it out of it's spot because I saw him kneeling and signing as I got out of my car. He drove maybe four blocks or so and I drove four miles to get to it! Funny, the timing. I announced myself by asking to sign it. STF! STF! Super nice guy, who showed me the faces, gave me some history on the cache owners and showed me where the cache went back. And those faces on the trees are really really cool. Cache spot is just right, too. TFTF.

Whole bunch of us out caching tonight! Fun coop challenge find with Snowdad, part of Alohacrazy5, PDXMadDog....AND Neomia! Having seen her name all over, competed with her on a few FTF's, traded many emails, and even run off away from her on another FTF hunt, it was great to finally meet face to face. Had to give her a hug, it's been so long since we finally met. Funny stuff, this geocaching hobby.  Warm conversations on a chilly winter night. Not sure how long the cache will last in that spot, but racing after it tonight was sure enjoyable. Would have to race off to the local Applebee's and finish grading papers as I nursed a frosty cold beverage. But at least the calendar day caches are out of the way! TFTC.

Was pretty close to this one as it popped up while I was standing in a Dollar Tree shopping for Valentine's decorations for our middle school dance on Friday. I'm always telling the kids to focus on priorities and, unfortunately, I HAD to have those decorations. Dropping everything and bolting was not in my cards. Then I wound up standing in line behind an incredibly hot blond. Here's when you know you have a problem: when you are irritated that the incredibly hot blond in front of you is taking forever to get through the line and preventing you from getting out of the store and hunting for a cache. Talk about screwed up priorities. Finally made it out of the store (a gazillion years later) and came up on The Twilight Crew - as I refer to them, since I know they are Twilight crazy. Had a good talk until I just got too cold and we parted ways. Simple cache, fun times. TFTC.

Was working pretty hard to stay in bed and doze as much as possible, so I managed to ignore the first nearby cache that popped up this morning. Started to feel lazy and figured the chance at a 2pm FTF was enough to drag myself out of the house and, at the very least go get some coffee. Zipped down Cornell Road and just missed out on the clean log by about 10 minutes or so. Recognizing the korsmofamily's rig from a previous late night FTF hunt that they nabbed, I went up to say hello. I wasn't surprised to see their name on the log before mine -- them and the alohacrazy5 crew's got the speedy smiley thing down in this area! Thanks for a fun hunt. Neat paint job on the container and a fun little squirrel hidey hole.

Out on I5, heading home from Newberg via Lake Oswego and thought I'd go for another two FTF opportunities tonight. Got to GZ with the lads and had the pleasure of meeting up with Phantom Tech and his lovely wife, who'd just made the FTF find here. My oldest son was in awe, as several of his all time favorite caches are by PT, all of which my son recounted and described for his cousin on the way home. Gotta say, Untied, this was probably one of your most mischievous of hides. Making sense of it all at night was hard enough for me, but after chatting a bit, I completely forgot all the spots I'd looked and had to spy at each one again. And again. And again. Ah, yes. It does, indeed rock. I get it. Now. TFTFC.

STF scant minutes after the Mad one himself. Saw this cache pop up while I was finishing up shopping for more than $300 in snacks for a mob of hungry 7th graders I'd be taking to Ashland this week and I just couldn't figure out how to leave the snacks behind and race off to see PDXMaddog nab the FTF. I tried. Lord knows I tried. I took cuts in front of a little old lady, shoved a little kid out of my way, and tripped an unwitting husband trying to buy roses for his wife. Nothing got me through the checkout line any faster. So close and yet so very far. I did, however, enjoy the pleasure of meeting up with the Mamacuz clan as I was leaving the parking lot. Very nice to meet you folks and thanks for the cool trackables that I can discover (the dog collar is the cutest). The following phrases are included to meet some challenge or another: Serenity Now! , No soup for you, or Not that there’s anything wrong with that. TFTC.
