This one is definately a classic! No hiking involved, but the cache is one of a kind. At least in this area!

Cacher Catcher

There are several caches in the Crockett Garden area on the Goodwater trail around Lake Georgetown. Crockett Gardens is one of my favorite long hike destinations. From the parking lot at Cedar Breaks park, your GPS will tell you that a short .7 mile hike will get you there. Don't be fooled! By trail you are looking at 2.5 miles one way. The terrain is relatively flat however, but quite rocky. I would recommend good hiking shoes and lots of water. Crockett Gardens has the remains of an old farmstead that was taken over when the Corps of Engineers impounded the lake, and some of the farm infrastructure is still visible at the site. A natural spring flow down a moss covered waterfall into a little cove in the lake. You can also kayak to this location and save your feet.

Dr. Harry 2

I have adopted this cache for the owners who had moved out of state. Normally I would not be so presumtptious as to include my own caches in my own favorites. In fact, none of the caches I have placed would be on my list, but I'm rather picky. This one is about the destination. very little walking needed. Another spot where a camera would be a good thing to have.

Hunt for Stonehenge II

This is one of those caches that when you figure it out, your first question is invariably, "How in the world did they do that?" Definately a must do.

Line Of Sight

This one is a must do cache for anyone in the Austin area. As recommended, it is probably better at night, but you may miss some things that you will find in the daylight. A truly remarkable cache.

Necropolis of Britannia Manor III

It is obvious as you do this cache that a lot of effort went into the hide and the cache. There isn't a lot of hiking involved with this one, maybe .4mi. The cache and the concept make it worth doing. Great job!

Over the creek and through the woods.......

This is a fairly short hike, only a little over a mile, but it is along a rippling creek in the deep forest. Bring your camera along, I'm sure you'll find something to photograph on your hike.

Panther Hollow Junction Cache

I was fortunate to have done this one on a beautiful autumn day. The foliage around the pond was probably past its peak, but still pretty spectacular. With the pond being surrounded by mountains, covered with the colors of autumn, made this a very special destination. It took me a little while to locate the cache, but I'll blame it on the distraction of the area.

Parked at Newfound

I know I know, there is no sense placing an archived cache in your favorites list! While this may be true, it may just give a local cacher in this area the idea to place another cache in this spot. It is a very pretty area and a great destination.

Peace Pond

This is another long walk that leads to a great destination. You are looking at about a 7 mile round trip for this one, but it takes you to a peaceful grove of trees with a small cemetery of some of the pioneers of Central Texas.

Pioneer Cache

This cache was not a long hike, only about .16 if you believe the unsafe bridge sign. What is special about this is the falls themselves. I was here in the fall and the colors were pretty spectacular here at that time. A great destination for those of use who look for peaceful places.

Stumped at the Falls

There is actually very little walking required for this one, but the destination is pretty amazing. The artwork inside the Grotto is spectacular. Mustard Devil gives you a great place to come!

The Grotto

This is a great destination in a wonderful state park in Texas. Enchanted Rock has some great hiking and some pretty severe terrain. Bring plenty of water and be prepared to be challenged. While this one may not appeal to those with claustrophobia, it will be a real adventure to anyone who tries it. Great spot.

To Boldly Go.....

I couldn't have a favorite list without this one. This is actually the bonus in an entire series of caches which were dedicated to me by cachers who are both friends and family to me. They all are very special to me because of the people who placed them. Thanks!

Well Travelled Cacher Challenge - Iowa

I have been resisting creating a list like this for several reasons. First and foremost, I don't want to hurt the feelings of cachers whose caches don't appear on this list. The second reason is that a "My" favorites list is by definition very subjective. 
So, with this in mind, here is what makes a cache special to me.
1. I prefer quality to quantity. I'll take a 5 mile hike to a beautiful location over 50 parking lot caches anyday. I would prefer caches that take me someplace special.
2. I prefer caches that give me a reason to excercise.
