Geocache Description:

Welcome to Puke Ariki - ’the ‘hill of the gods’.

The site is a former Māori pā (fortified village) and was occupied by Ngāti Tai and Ngāti Paoa, iwi of Tainui descent. They occupied the area from around 1300 AD until around the mid -1800s.

Head down into the darkness and follow the trail that Ngāti Tai and Ngāti Paoa once followed. You might even run into one of them.

This is a night cache, please be mindful of the neighboring properties.

Bring a good torch and best to park outside the gate
