Geocache Description:

The Basics

Centennial Olympic Park was built to celebrate the 100th Olympic games, which were held in Atlanta in 1996. The park is open daily from 7 AM to 11 PM. Note that at certain times, the park may be VERY crowded. There is no charge to visit the park and explore all it has to offer!

This is a short, two-stage virtual that should take no more than 10 minutes to do. It is wheelchair-accessible.

The Cache Plot

With the release of the Virtual Rewards, poeanne and I have created a DOUBLE-virtual experience that spotlights some of the interesting things you can find here in the park! While each of the Virtual caches placed here are completely independent, we hope you will do them both! Think of them like legs in a relay race! Each "leg" will have two stages

Fire and Rings

This is the first leg of the Olympic Virtual Relay, "Fire & Rings". To claim credit for this virtual, you will need to do the following

  1. Visit the first stage (Posted Coordinates). This is "Fire"
  2. Use the Geocaching "message" app or email me the answer to the following questions: What is the name of this award and who was it awarded to?
  3. Use the "Additional Waypoints" section and navigate to stage 2. This is "Rings"
  4. Take your picture with the iconic Olympic rings in the background. Note, you do not have to have your face in the picture, but you should have something uniquely yours in the photo. Post this photo with your log!

You're Finished!

Congratulations! You've completed the virtual!! Feel free to enjoy the rest of the park! And, hey!! Did you notice you're awfully darn close to the starting point for Olympic Virtual Relay: Leg 2- Spark to Flame!???

Update 7/25/21:  With the devestating economic impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, access to the park has been reduced and the original "Stage 2" location has limited accessibility.  The virtual has been reconfigured to allow you to still see an iconic part of the park, but entry into the park itself is no longer required.  This cache can now be done 24/7 (Though caution should be used after dark...)
