The coordinates given above are NOT for the location of the cache.
They are at the first step in finding the cache. From this location
and the subsequent location, you will gain clues to enable you to
find the final cache location. Since the Mall is a “canyon,” your
GPSr might have trouble determining coordinates, but the locations
of the first two steps in the multi should be simple to find even
without an accurate reading.
Parking: The downtown parking garages are free on Saturdays and
Sundays. Parking meters are free on Sundays, but you have to pay
9am - 6pm Monday through Saturday ($1/hour). If you ride the bus or
your bike or motorcycle to downtown Boulder, that’s even better,
because you don't have to mess with parking!
Instructions on finding the cache:
Replace the underlined letters in these instructions with the
numbers you will find along the way. Use the numbers in the
equations given to find the coordinates of the subsequent
location.
Point 1: Locate the coordinates given above. Look around
for a sign with a map on it. This sign is numbered “___A___
of ___B___.” The writing on the map mentions ___C___
men and ___D___ women.
Use these equations to find values for x and
y:
(C+D)/4 + A + 5 = x
C + (4*B) - 13 = y
Point 2 is offset from Point 1 by N(+0° 0.0x) and W(-0°
0.y)
Point 2: Walk to the coordinates obtained at point 1.
(Don’t bother driving – you'll just have to find a parking spot
again!) Stop in at some of the interesting shops, restaurants and
galleries along the way. When you’re at point 2, look around for
another, larger, map. The number in the northwest corner of the map
is ___E __. The number in the southwest corner of the map is
___F___.
Use these equations to find values for r and
s:
F - (9*C) - (B - A - 1)2 = r (Note to PDA
users: that's squared, not times two.)
E - (70*C) - B + 1 = s
Point 3 is offset from Point 2 by N(-0° 0.0r), W(+0°
0.s)
Point 3: Make your way to the coordinates obtained at
point 2 to find the cache. Please replace the container in exactly
the same location that you found it, with the same orientation, to
keep it hidden. Have fun!
Some folks are finding this one right away, and some need
additional hints. If you want more hints, just drop me a line!
Since so many people have requested hints, I've upped the
difficulty to 3 stars (from 2.5)
