Geocache Description:

A hotel for those travel bugs who want to travel to or from mainland Europe. The cache is a nice large tupperware box catering for most sizes of travel bug.

Cache moved 23/9/06.

This cache is in woodland at the back of Maidstone Services, J8 on the M20 - the last service station before the ferry ports and the channel tunnel terminal (at least, until the Folkestone services open). The fence separating the service station from the footpath currently has a gap in it - but if they ever fix it, it's only a short walk to reach the end of it. The ground by the fence is uneven with some large cracks in it when the weather has been dry.

This cache is ideal for cachers travelling to Europe who want a quick 'cache & dash', but instead of just stopping here briefly as you whizz through Kent, why not turn off the motorway and enjoy some of the local attractions and countryside? Leeds Castle is very close by and many public footpaths run through the grounds. Not that we are suggesting you use these as way of getting into the gardens without paying - that would be dishonest!

NOTE: Wasps were reported nearby in 2004 - there has been no sign of them since but they could return - take care!

ANOTHER NOTE: Please don't put large rocks on top of the cache to hide it - it's probably not strong enough enough to take the weight!
YET ANOTHER NOTE: for those of you caching in the dark, there is a footbridge, please do not attempt to cross the tracks! I didn't think it would be necessary to point this out but it seems I was wrong...
