This cache is temporarily unavailable.

Team Koppertop: We’ll check on this and see what happened. Very odd sounding that the ammo can was taken. Hopefully not by another cacher. 😬😫

Geocache Description:

A cache based on the kid's PBS Television show "Dinosaur Train" - placed for the Dinosaur Train Geocaching Challenge. "A find that is fantastic in an area quite Jurassic!" (Please re-hide as well as you found it if possible!)

Our kids love watching "Dinosaur Train" on PBS and on the PBS website right now, they are doing a Dinosaur Train Geocaching Challenge. (See related web link for more information) As it says on the website, "The Jim Henson Company has enlisted the help of PBS stations, museums, zoos, and aquariums nationwide to hide DINOSAUR TRAIN themed Geocaches. Each geocache features one of the dinosaurs found on the online DINOSAUR TRAIN Field Guide and contains educational information related to that dinosaur." We found the only one in Washington state right by the PBS station in Seattle and decided Washington certainly needs another one for families to find who love Geocaching & Dinosaur Train like we do! They encourage anyone who is interested in Geocaching to place one too, so we decided to! On the show, the Pteranodon family has been traveling around discovering things, going on scavenger hunts, etc. This cache is based on a few Episodes - "Home with Shiny & Don", "Don's Collection" and "Diamond Anniversary". Don has a big collection of things and he's adding gems to his collection while going on an adventure with his dad & sister. The cache you're looking for contains some pretty gems too (initially) that can be enjoyed by the first few Geocachers who find it, along with toy Dinosaurs & lots of other goodies! Trade dinosaur themed prizes too if you like. All dinosaurs have different features - so, for the educational information about the Pteranodon (pronounced ter-AN-o-DON), here you go: This dinosaur was named in 1876 by Othniel C. Marsh and it's name means "Winged and Toothless". It is a carnivore that ate mostly fish. It's wingspan was 25-33 feet long, it's standing height was 6 feet tall at the hips and it's weight was around 55 pounds. It lived in the late Cretaceous period, about 75-85 million years ago. Many Pteranodon fossils have been found. The first Pteranodon skull was found on May 2, 1876, in Smoky Hill River, Wallace County, Kansas, USA, by S. W. Williston, a fossil collector working for Othniel Marsh. Interesting facts about this dinosaur: Pteranodon was a flying reptile that lived during the time of the dinosaurs - it was not a dinosaur, but was a close relative of the dinosaurs. Pteranodon's wing-span is longer than that of any known bird. It had a crest on its head, no teeth at all, and a very short tail. And an interesting side note about Dinosaurs in our area - there have never been any dinosaur fossil discoveries in Washington State! So there you go - now you're well informed. So get outside, get into nature & make your own discoveries! Have fun! La La Loo! (You'll understand if you know Don's character!) Congrats to Smoothiestoys & Terrible T's for a co-FTF!
