At night in Fairlight Multi-cache

This cache has been archived.

Caching Cat: We called in this afternoon and removed the Cache.

Many thanks to all the Geocachers who took the trouble to log it, give favourite points, and for the friendly conversations that I had throughout the time that the Cache has been in position.

Geocache Description:

This is a night Cache located in an old sandstone quarry within the Hastings Country Park near to the village of Fairlight. It is short in distance, but may require a little time to complete.

This is Caching Cat's first Cache, it was put out in October 2009 with Rosemary and Thyme.

You will need a good torch (flashlight) in order to find this Cache, and you should attempt it in darkness - it will be close to impossible to find in daylight. It is recommended that you attempt this Cache on a clear night, as the views from stage 2 are spectacular.

There are no significant hazards in the area, but given that you will be finding the Cache during the hours of darkness and that the paths entering and exiting the quarry are steep, you are advised to use common sense. You are responsible for your own safety!

The coordinates above are not the final location of the Cache, but mark the position of the start of stage one. Coordinates are also given for the five bar gate in the car park where you can gain access to the quarry.

Reflectors are used to help you find the cache. These are in three colours. White provide route information, intermediate stages are marked with yellow, and the final is marked with red. Each reflector should be visible from the one before - but due to variations in leaf cover throughout the year it may be necessary to vary the angle of your torch in order to find the reflectors. Reflectors are not a uniform distance apart, and may be found at different heights.

From the car park, go through the kissing gate next to the five bar gate and follow the path, descending the steps to Waypoint one.

From waypoint one, look for the white reflector and then subsequent reflectors which will take you to the location of stage one (marked with a yellow reflector). Make a note of the information contained and head to waypoint two.

From waypoint two, follow the white reflectors to stage two and note the information there.

The information provided by stages one and two will lead you to waypoint three from where you can follow the reflectors to the final.

Happy hunting!

UPDATE 02.09.2013: I have had a number of reports of the car park being used by Doggers. The Police patrol the car park fairly regularly - but if you see any suspicious activity then please let me know, so that I can decide on the future of the Cache.
