Geocache Description:

PLEASE READ!

Another in the series - The Coin Caches. Please read the entirety of the description since there is important information because there is real treasure in this geocache!

I have created this geocache in the hopes that it will unite geocachers from various countries together and create a coin collection to showcase to the world...

IMPORTANT this cache follows the guidelines of Geocaching since it does not require finders to place coins inside the cache it is only the theme of the geocache, therefore it is NOT an agenda.

While under lockdown because of Covid-19 I took the opportunity to explore my local area for spots to place geocaches, I then hid a few coin themed caches in those spots being inspired by many other caches. This cache is hidden in Brisbane. The geocache is a airtight, waterproof container which originally contains some Foreign coins & a logbook with a card explaining geocaching. (You are NOT required to trade coins) Feel free to exchange coins in this cache. (PLEASE READ THE COIN TRADING RULES).

And now for the coin trading rules:

1) If you don't want to trade coins, you don't have to. Feel free to just sign the log, exchanging coins is not for everyone so it is NOT required, it is just simply to make this geocache unique. But if you only sign the log, do not take any coins.

2) No modern Australian coins. The aim of this geocache is to have coins in the cache that are interesting and not seen on a day-to-day basis. However, old Australian coins are all welcome.

3) For the above reason, try to avoid trading common US coins and NZ coins, but if that's all you have then feel free to swap them with something which is also quite common (e.g  modern Australian coins, bits of swag and trackables)

4) Please log what is the coin you left in your log. The only we can know what coins are in the geocache is if you log what type of coin you left, this way we can keep track of what coins are in the geocache so people can know what coin to trade. We also recommend logging the issuing country, date of production and denomination please.

5) You can also trade banknotes. If you want trade banknotes, there is nothing wrong with it, just make sure that you follow the same rules with coins but apply them to banknotes.

6)Do not loot the geocache. Do not loot the contents of this geocache (take everything and leave nothing). It is against the guidelines.

7) The only way this cache will work is if everyone does one piece of currency for another piece of currency trades, otherwise eventually, all of the currency will be replaced with junk that nobody wants. If you leave extra currency then great! You're helping to keep the coin cache alive 😀

8) Please do not leave anything other than legal currency. (Trackables, vouchers, , pathtags and geocoins are a exception but please do not swap them them in a coin/s place.) (I am allowed to implement rules 7, 8 and 4 because of the below text)

 9) Trade equal or up not down. I have seen many people replacing the substantial amount of coins (which have quite a lot of value) inside my geocaches for 1 Australian coin or something else worth nothing. This is against the guidelines. Instead, try to increase the amount of coins or trade coin for coin. This makes both the coin cache grow in coins people can trade and increase the popularity of this geocache.

EXTREMELY INPORTANT If you think that this geocache does not follow the geocaching guidelines than how is this other geocache located in Greece (GC2B69R) even existing? (Read the geocaches’ description) And also, how did it get approved if it does not follow the guidelines? (It was approved after the rules about additional logging requirements were changed) Another important note is that the guidelines say “ (Do not make the) cache suggest or require the finder do any of the following,”

  • Go inside a business
  • Interact with employees
  • Purchase a product or service

The guidelines do not say that currency is not allowed.

NOTICE: Misleading logs, rude logs and inappropriate logs will be deleted without prior notice to make the cache less confusing and suitable for everyone. I have seen cache owners log notes to say that certain logs are irrelevant so if they can do it then I can do it as well. 😃. Remember that I am a human. If you have a request do not expect me to answer immediately, if you act aggressively you WILL be reported.

Common Questions and Answers

Q: How can I get foreign coins/banknotes to put in this geocache?

A: Exchange your currency at an exchange place or just buy some.

If you are going to report this geocache for having coin trading rules, it is just because I had a spark of inspiration and long periods of geocache inactivity. Also, the rules are in place so people understand how coin trading in the geocache works. Happy now? 👍😃😃😃

Kind Regards From Australia, CommunistOnions.
