Last year we fell in love with the English public footpaths, which we visited both in May and August, and only a few days after returning from our August trip, we started planning another geocaching tour to the UK to take place in August of 2010. The main goals of this third trip should be circular geocaching series around Reading, Eastbourne and Crawley. Neither of us are keen on the idea of driving in the "wrong" side of the road, so we had to plan our transport carefully. Luckily we managed to find a good combination of train and bus connections as well as a little bit of taxi driving. This enabled us to get close enough to many great footpaths (and geocaching series). This kind of geocaching does not provide any "drive-by's" and thus we walked more than 300 km during our 11 days trip, but that is exactly the way we like it!
When planning our trip we noticed the area around Stanford Dingley which looked like a must. Unfortunately we were not able to figure out any good way of coming here from Reading by public transportation, so we had to take a taxi both ways. That turned out to be quite difficult (and rather expensive) but nevertheless we are very happy, that we did manage to get to this beautiful area. We had a 31 km walk before returning to the (closed) pub in Stanford Dingley.
The Tylers For Us series was definitely one of the highlights of our trip! This cache was located at 9:23. It happened to become a mini milestone for us: Our find no. 9300.
Thanks for the cache!
