For the third year in a row we are doing a geocaching road trip to the US in the spring. This year we will spend 3½ weeks driving from Las Vegas to Seattle (including a few days just north of the American/Canadian border).
Today we only had one major goal: To complete the Thunderbird series. Yesterday we visited 153 of the caches, so today we would only need an additional 47 finds. However, when we arrived at Swan Falls Road in Kuna we got worried! This road would be part of a professional cycling race today! Would we be able to get to the Thunderbird series, or would our approach be blocked by a "Road Closed" sign? Luckily we got through and could start our walk. Obviously today's hike was shorter than yesterday's, 15,3 km to be exact! Therefore our total walking distance in this area was about 50 km (31 mi). Although it was (almost) not raining while we walked, we soon got wet feet due to the very wet vegetation. It was great to change to dry socks and shoes, when we returned to the rest area!
After a nice lunch at the rest area we went to the rim and enjoyed the great view to the Snake River. After that we headed for Initial Point and also found a bunch of drive-by's on our way back towards Kuna. In the evening we found a few caches in the Boise area before heading for something to eat and calling it a day.
We had the pleasure of celebrating our 21.000 caches anniversary in this cache, which is awarded a favorite point for the great creativity that went into this series! Thanks a lot for many hours of fun (and exercise ). We are so happy that we decided to come here!
Thanks for the series and greetings from Denmark!
