During our three week geocaching roadtrip in the US we spent a day in and around Vernal, and for a Danish geocaching team this area is quite strange. There are plenty of caches, but at the same time the level of geocaching activity seems to be low. In other words, we have never before been in an area with so many "lonely caches" (i.e. not found during the last six months).

We decided to start the day with a trip towards "Paradise". The vast majority of the many caches along the Paradise Park Road were "lonely" and most of them had never been found. Our trip didn't change that picture very much. We searched intensively for a number of the caches, but they seemed to be hidden by the principle of "needle in a haystack", and we ended up with DNF after DNF. We then discovered another cache (GC3X4VN Show Me a Moose) further up the road which had also yet to be found. This cache had a lower D rating, so perhaps it would be easier to find? After a nice walk in the forest we arrived at the cache and after a few minutes of searching we found the container. It was a FTF and a "lonely cache" as well as our first find above 10000 feet / 3 km.

We continued up the road and managed to find two additional caches (and made two additional DNFs). At that point, the road was not suitable for our car, and we decided to head back to Vernal.

The rest of the day was spent in Vernal where we found a bunch of caches.

This cache was found at 12:35. Another First to Find.

Thanks for the cache and greetings from Denmark!

infoThis is the original cache type consisting, at a bare minimum, a container and a log book. Normally you'll find a tupperware container, ammo box, or bucket filled with goodies, or smaller container ("micro cache") too small to contain items except for a log book. The coordinates listed on the traditional cache page is the exact location for the cache.
