Found it colincactus found Talking to the Troops (Hampshire)

Sunday, August 18, 2013Southern England, United Kingdom

We've been planning to get this one for a few months now - it being placed in November 2002 meant that it would fill up an empty slot in our Jasmer grid.

Today Bobcat and I had arranged to go with Richiecactus to do Seeking Salters puzzle series on the other side of Stockbridge. To get there we'd be driving straight past this one so we decided to make this the first of the day.

We parked up at the suggested place alongside a dozen other cars. Fellow geocachers? No they were all metal detectorists, and were hard at work in the adjoining field.

Then we set off to get the cache. We discovered that there had just been a music festival here (Boomtown Festival) and they were clearing up afterwards. There were still some metal barriers up around the cache site and we weren't sure which side the cache would be. Our first pass round brought up nothing after five minutes.

A muggle couple hiked past and so we stopped and chatted for a few minutes, and asked some questions about the festival. Then after they had moved on we decided to check the other side of the metal barrier. We spread out and within a few seconds we heard a call from Richiecactus - he'd found it.

We signed the log. Has somebody replaced it or has it just dried out? Recent logs here have said it was sodden but it didn't seem to be that wet to me.

infoThis is the original cache type consisting, at a bare minimum, a container and a log book. Normally you'll find a tupperware container, ammo box, or bucket filled with goodies, or smaller container ("micro cache") too small to contain items except for a log book. The coordinates listed on the traditional cache page is the exact location for the cache.
