About This Item

image

This geocoin serves as a token of remembrance of all the troops lost, known or unknown, of all wars past and present.  It also serves as a reminder to keep all of our current service members, deployed or otherwise, in your thoughts.  Anyone that discovers this geocoin is encouraged to leave a story of their own service or that of someone they have known.  Branch of service, unit, deployments, etc. would be fun facts to include.

I was a truck driver in the WARNG 1041st Transportation Company and was part of the rear detachment while the forward detachment deployed to Iraq from 2009-2010. One of my grandfathers was an Army MP in Cuba during WWII and was fortunate enough to have been spared from combat.  My other grandfather was an airborne medic in the 17th Airborne Division during the Battle of the Bulge, and was awarded the Combat Infantryman and Combat Medical Badges for his participation in ground combat, the Bronze Star Medal for carrying another soldier out of combat into a safe zone, and the Purple Heart Medal for being wounded by shrapnel during combat.  His unit was awarded the Presidential Unit Citation for combat heroism.

Please do not keep this geocoin for too long so it does not become lost, and please keep it out of high-muggle caches so its mission can continue.

I have enjoyed carrying this with me to different war memorials but feel that I need to let this travel on it's own. The USS Arizona has always been a special place to me and wanted to send it on from there
