The Route 66 - the most popular street in the World - was also named Mother Road or Main Street. It was an originally 2451 miles long street, starting in Chicago (Illinois) going to Santa Monica (California). Today it is a highlight for Motorbiking Tourists.

South Lake Tahoe area is famous for 1960 Olympics in Squaw Valley. It is also the starting point for the Tevis Cup 100 mile endurance ride (horseback) and another that is a run on foot in one day from Squaw Valley, CA to Auburn, CA (Google the details).
Emerald Bay is a gorgeous area and part of Lake Tahoe. There are outstanding views from the surrounding ski resorts especially from Heavenly Valley Ski Resort in North Lake Tahoe that overlooks the lake and surrounding mountains. Lake Tahoe is mostly in California and the other third is in Nevada. It's a must see!

I got ya that much closer to Santa Monica!

My dog and I drove from northern CA to Austin TX and on the way back I took a detour and I am so glad I did because I have never heard of Seligman and didn't know much history about route 66 so this was a fun adventure.
I didn't read the write up about this geocoin and feared that I was supposed to keep it along the route but I don't see anything about that so here we are in California for the first time. I will place it in a beautiful area soon with photos.
