Bug History:

This travel bug was originally the top of a troop flag, which due to the ravages of time, eventually broke off.

Saved for many years, by a Scoutmaster as a memory of good times past. When he past, the piece came into my hands, and I felt the Scouting Spirit , and Goodwill coming from this piece. If you do a good turn, have fun outdoors on a camp out take a digital picture, and include this Travel Bug "Scout Spirit" in your report to this web site. • The Competition Competition is not new to our troop and we managed to take home several ribbons. We are honored to be part of the Scout Spirit BSA Bug's journey and are confident that it enjoyed visiting with us.
  • Part of our Team Here we are gathering for the competition.

We are happy to catch up with this TB because as scouts, our flag carries the same Fleur de Lis which is a universal symbol of Boy Scouting. We have been active here in the Southeast Louisiana Council since 1967 and have produced more than 40 Eagle Scouts.

We have already included the TB in one of our meetings (see photo) and will be taking it to the council-wide camporee next week to let it once-again relive experiences of days gone by.

  • The Find A bunch of us found it. Here are 3 of the searchers logging in.
  • The Meeting It's important to attend scout meetings and the Scout Spirit TB felt right at home.

I wasted little time in re-visiting this cache when I found out about the Scout Spirit BSA Bug TB. There appeared to be a second bee’s nest there (both active now, by my observations) and I found myself thinking, as I braved the gauntlet, “Is there anything I won’t do for my troop?” I am the Committee Chairman of Troop 244 in Kenner, Louisiana and the proud father of a Double-Bronze Eagle Scout. To my knowledge, ours is the only scout troop in the region that has it’s own geocachng handle, as you will discover when I pass Scout Spirit BSA Bug on to them at the cache near their meeting place. Until then, I will help perpetuate the spirit with photos.

  • The Flag Day 1: The Flag: I wanted to roll out the red carpet and found myself rolling out the red white & blue carpet. This is the third of 3 flags which have flown in front of my house non=stop since Sept 11, 2001. In retrospect, I regret having ever limited it’s appearances to the usual, traditional holidays. It was foggy this morning and as I hung the Scout Spirit BSA Bug on top, the sun broke through, brightening the colors, inspiring me to take this photograph.
  • Full flag
  • The Eagle I couldn't let it go without a final note. My son is a Double Bronze Eagle Scout. He never missed a campout in 5 years, went to every meeting, all the OA ordeals, etc. and is now a US Marine but still a registered and active scout.
