Left your travel bug in the Ponderose Road Cache. This is near a forest fire area that five years ago almost burned into the town of Prescott. The forest service firefighters put up a heroic battle to keep it contained. It burned for 3 days and several homes were lost, in addition to thousands of acres of ponderosa pine forest. The name of the fire was The Indian Fire.

Prescott's claim to fame is having the oldest, continual rodeo. It is every summer during the week of 4th of July.
The town can really get rowdy!

    Good luck in your travels.~~~~~AzUC

Howdy- We were visiting Colorado Springs this past week when we grabbed your TB from Gold Camp History.

Son is in the Army and getting ready to deploy to Iraq for the third time. We had a very nice nice visit with him and enjoyed exploring that area.

Kirkland Junction, AZ is our home. That is about 30 miles south of Prescott, AZ. We live on a cattle ranch and raise hereford calves. It is what is called a "cow/calf operation. Bill has lived here since 1959. The ranch has been running cattle since about 1885. Many people think that ranchers destroy the land but if that were true, most ranches would not exist anymore! Ranchers need to care for the land to stay in business.

I work at Skull Valley school which is about 13 miles from our home. The whistles on your travel bug reminded me of Skull Valley because the railroad goes through there. It is a "whistle stop" with an old railroad museum in an old section house and rail station.

We moved your travel bug to a cache near Prescott. Hopefully someone else will retrieve it soon and move it along.

Good luck in all its travels. ~~~~~~~~~AzUC
