Reminds me of a really funny joke. Seems there was this woman who had actually done that whole bit of loving God with all her heart and loving her neighbors as Jesus had loved her. And there she was at the pearly gates. It was a slow day at the gate – what with all that sin and stuff down on Earth – so Saint Peter decided to give the kind old woman a personalized tour of Heaven. He hung out the siesta sign and locked the gate. Then he and the kind old woman set out on the tour. Saint Peter showed her a great many wondrous things. Everywhere there were people singing praises. People of different colours, different languages, even different religions! Some played musical instruments. All were happy and filled with joy. Presently Saint Peter and the kind old woman ventured near a great wall – tall and ominous in appearance. The kind old woman was curious but thought it would be rude to ask about the wall. The tour took them away from the wall where she saw more wondrous sights and all these different kinds of men and women making joyful noise unto the Lord. Once again Saint Peter and the kind old woman ventured very near the great wall – tall and ominous in appearance. And once again their travels saw the wall recede into the distance. But eventually they neared the great wall again. This time the kind old woman gave in to her curiosity. “Saint Peter” she said, “May I ask a question?” Saint Peter responded “of course, there are no secrets here.” The kind old woman inquired as to the wall. “Saint Peter, we have ventured near this great wall – tall and ominous in appearance. But we have not seen what is on the other side. Will you tell me what is on the other side?” Saint Peter Chuckled. “Oh that” he said. “That is where we keep the Baptists, they can’t seem to be happy if they think anyone else is here.”
