About This Item

This is my first try at Geocaching, if there are bugs (no pun intended) please let me know.

West Virginia has 63 wildlife viewing areas. Each spot is described in “West Virginia Wildlife Viewing Guide” published by the WV Department of Natural Resources. The book is free if picked up at the DNR office in Elkins or it can be purchased online for $2.50 plus shipping. Acquiring the book is not necessary but strongly suggested as it gives driving directions to the viewing areas and, as many of these viewing areas are in remote locations, the best time of year to visit is often mentioned.

The URL is www.wvdnr.gov/publications/publications.shtm

A cache has been placed with four Travel Bugs attached to duck calls. The idea is move the “Ducks” from one WV Wildlife Viewing Area to another until all of the Ducks have been to all of the areas on the list. Each Duck is separately bagged and contains a list of the wildlife areas to be visited. Please take only one Travel Bug so that others can participate.

Please try to keep the Ducks moving. They will get restless sitting on your desk or in your Geocaching bag.

Remember to consider the Ducks’ goals. Take a picture when you hide them and upload it to their website.

The following is a list of Wildlife Viewing Areas where the Ducks may be hidden. While there are other areas listed in the book, they should be considered “off limits” for various reasons:

Im really not sure when I grabbed this :( My daughter had picked it up and didnt realize it had such a specific quest. I had given it to my mom to drop off but she forgot about it :( I got it moving today though. :)

Dropped in Pipestem Quick Cache.

I'm so sorry I had this for so long. I had a car accident not long after I picked this one up (bad enough to total the car), and everything that was in my car was shoved into a box, which got shoved into a closet at the house... and I totally forgot about having this. I found it the other day and took it straight out and planted it at Pipestem to get it a-moving again. So sorry... hope this didn't ruin the fun for you!
