About This Item

Bee-Ware!

If you've known me for awhile, you know why I chose this as my first geocoin. I'm always getting stung by bees. Whether I'm caching, benchmarking, hiking, or just mowing the lawn - I get stung by bees. I don't hate all types of bees, the big bumblebees are cool, and I don't think I've had any trouble with domesticated honey bees (yet) The ones I can't stand are the "regular" bees and ground bees.
If you have any, please share your bee-related experiences in your discovery log.

Thanks for letting me discover it at CITO.

My wife and I were working on a cemetary cache off of Blue Ridge. We found the cache and then saw some horses from NCSU nearby. They came up to us wondering what we were doing. Next thing I know something felt like it hit me and pinched me. Thoguht it was my wife. But it wasn't Turns out we were standing in a yello jacket next. She ran, then me and they floowed us to the car. One got under my shorts and stung me on the inside of my leg. Yes, very close to somewhere the sun dont shine. One got under my wife's pant legs and stayed there until we got home only to sting here then. Was a rough day then!

Saw it at the Festivus event in Wilmington NC! Thanks for sharing the coins! I guess I've been very lucky-- I haven't been stung by a bee as long as I've been caching (and not at all in a very long time). I have had some close encounters, though, mostly with bees getting into the car, but I've always been able to get them out without getting stung!

Discovered this cool coin while out benchmark hunting with wwflover13.

You saw the bee/yellow jacket incident. Was looking for a benchmark somewhere in northern Harnett (hmm, kind of similar to hornet) county. A hole looked interesting as a location for the benchmark. Used my toe to investigate and a ton of yellow jackets swarmed out of there. Ouch.

Bees. Let's see, we have a story or two. The last time we were stung it was during (of course) the hunt for a cache in Wilmington. The cache was "Dangerous Diamond", and the container had been taken from our Diamond Mine cache. Anyway, the bees chased us out of the woods and we had to find the cache on another day. Then there was the time that the middle fray reached her hand into a shrub, thinking that she had a micro in her sights. It was really a bee, and it was not happy to see her! And who could possibly forget about the time that we were accused of ATTEMPTED MURDER (really) by some folks who stepped into a hive while hunting for one of our caches?! We could go on and on and on with the bee stories.

Thanks for sharing this coin with us at the Fall Fling!
