Current Goal

To travel from cache to cache, visiting wildlife rich areas and wilderness areas. Photographs of the coin with wildlife of any sort will be very much appreciated.
Please keep away from urban areas and at muggle-risk caches.
This geocoin is the replacement for a Colorado 2007 Geocoin that was stolen from the first cache it was placed in, in Boston, MA. In light of it's history, please do not take this geocoin into the continental United States. Thank you!

Retrieve It from a Cache 2/10/2015 daywalk retrieved it from Port Craig School Hut (Southland) South Island, New Zealand   Visit Log

This exotic bird looks familiar - saw it at the Rock & Pillar Summit Rocks - it has travelled a long way!

    • Coin with beech fungus at Camp Creek, Port Craig Saw this fungus just off the Port Craig track, growing on a beech tree root. Have never seen anything this huge, have no idea what it is - and our local enthusiast katie_w doesn't know either. So let's just say "massive beech fungus".
    • Breakneck Creek, looking back at Port Craig This used to be the end of a low tide beach shortcut from Te Whata. Apparently beach erosion has made this difficult now. Anyone know what it's like and whether it's passable at a low tide (and if so, what tide level is safe)?

It's back in town now, and I'll place it shortly.

Unfortunately the conditions were such that I did not dare try to look for the giant weta, much less try to photograph the Geocoin at the Summit Rocks, maybe the next person will be able to oblige.

    • Hemideina maori Taken on my first ever visit to the Rock and Pillar range in 1984, conditions that day were warm and sunny, ideal for seeking out these large insects among the rocks.
