About This Item

Lava Downhill Travel Bug

Eight year old Veep-Veep created Lava Downhill out of Sculpey Clay. Now she'd like to see photos and read logs about LDTB as it travels about the countryside.

Found Lava Downhill in Healdton, Oklahoma. I'm traveling to Arizona in four days and not sure whether to take this with me or if maybe that's too close to home and need to take it a little farther east in Ok and pass it that way. Will decide in the next few days and let you all know where it can be found.

Well this TB was making a mess flowing Lava everywhere so I placed it on a trip to Oklahoma to see family. I did not take pictures since the batts in my camara died (soory). I placed this wonderful creation in a cache that's in a park. The spot where the cache was hidden fit this TB perfect!

This bug is now flowing lava all over Texas! Upon arriving here at Ladycacher Hotel, the bug was given a new bag (to contain the flow) and a laminated bug sheet. This volcano is now ready to hit a cache here in the Lonestar State and start it's journey!

Lava Downhill is now in the highest cache in Oregon, overlooking the Big Obsidian Flow, Paulina and East Lakes, and the Newberry Crater. All this stuff is SE of Bend, and NE of LaPine - check out your map. This volcano is not so very old - there is still hot stuff down underneath, and there are hot springs in the area. See the photo of all the lava that went downhill here! We went for a walk on it, that was really impressive.

  • Looking at Paulina Peak from the Big Obsidian Flow The peak on the left side of the picture is the top of Paulina Peak, the Almost 8000 cache is behind the 3 peaks on the right side of the picture, maybe 1/4 mile downhill. All this stuff in front is the Big Obsidian Flow. Obsidian is glassy stuff that volcanos sometimes make. It is usually black, often shiny, and very, very sharp.
  • the black shiny rocks are obsidian Some of the white rocks here are pumice, another kind of lava that is so light that it floats on water. The little tree might be 15 years old, this is a hard place for a tree to grow.
