Current Goal

I'm a rockhopper penguin from the New Zealand region...actually, I'm from the sub-artic island of
Auckland. My species is on the decline and I'm anxious to get home to help my mates recover from
the decline of the population...the cause of which is unknown. Here in southern Utah I'm totally out
of my element. The heat is so intense! They say 'it is a dry heat'...but it doesn't matter. I want to
go home. Help me. Take me to New Zealand. From there the locals might be able to get me home
in time! Thanks!

About This Item

I woke up and found myself in the desert...don't know how I came to be here. Perhaps it was part
of a bad dream and I was awakened before it ended. Anyway...here I am with my red Elf hat and
no change in my pocket to buy a ticket home. Please help me by moving me closer to New Zealand.
I long for the cooler temperatures and the good times with my brothers and sisters for the breeding
season of this coming October.

    Stripe the Skink, Melissa's Turtle, Over the Hill and Auckland were great travel buddies and followed us all the way to Indianapolis. Here they are enjoying the view atop the tomb of a beloved Hoosier poet at the highest point in the City. Aukland needed a bit of help staying upright. He celebrated our arrival the night before as any good New Zealander would. Crazy penguin. He got himself together enough though to convince us all to take a detour to the resting place of one of Indiana's most notorious. Over the Hill tried to get us to go see Benjamin Harrison but by that time we were all ready for a beer. We dropped the kids off later that day to recover and to continue their travels.

    Auckland was found resting in a big, clean container in a cool, well-shaded area, East of Tampa. He seems to have enjoyed his jaunt to Florida. Still the weather is heating up down hear and we're determined to get him back on track. We will be flying him home to Indiana to see if he can pick up a ride west from a cache we know about along I-70.

    Auckland the Penguin has been Enjoying the Florida Weather.. But it's Starting to get a Bit Warm for him.. So we Placed him a Bit Further North.. Hopefully Another Geocacher can Help Him Get Closer to New Zealand Before October.. Good Lucky Auckland..
