I took the travel bug to our local fire department in Scarborough, ME. The staff there was more than willing to bring out one of the trucks for a photo. Our town has 6 companies with a total of 7 engines, 3 tank trucks, 3 rescue trucks, 2 ladder trucks, 2 marine boats, 2 service trucks, 1 command truck and 1 squad truck. The photos were taken at Oak Hill, the central department of Scarborough. They are of Squad 7, a 2007 Rescue 1 with a weight of 45,000lbs. This truck is considered a heavy rescue, and it's primary use is as an extrication unit for serious car accidents. Some of it's other uses include supplying breathing air for empty SCBA bottles used by firefighters in building fires. This truck also contains many various tools and a light tower for illumination of the emergency scene. Posed with the truck and holding the travel bug is one of the crew of this department who graciously volunteered to have his photo posted.

I would like to say thank you to the great men and women at the Oak Hill division of the Scarborough Fire Department for their help with the photos. I would also like to say thank you to all the firefighters across our nation for their dedication and the sacrifices that they make each and every day.

I will send this travel bug on its way and I hope whoever gets it next will go to their local fire department and give them the recognition they deserve.

One last thank you to HDFLHS for starting a great travel bug.
