Great Grapes!

I grew up in Geneva, Ohio. Geneva is located in the northeast corner of Ohio, near the shore of Lake Erie.

One of the events that I looked forward to as a kid was the annual Geneva Grape JAMboree, which was and still is held the last full weekend of September. The festival celebrates the harvesting of the grapes (mostly concord grapes) that are grown in this area. The first Grape JAMboree was held in 1963, the same year that I was born. Parades are held both Saturday and Sunday, along with rides and a craft fair, food vendors, wine and cheese tasting, grape pie eating contest, grape stomping and lots of grand stand entertainment!! I spent many years marching in the parades, watching the parades, dancing on the grandstand and the streets or just playing some of the games. I even won a coveted doll once! Out today to a track meet with the kids. Had to grab some caches while out and about. Needed to bring some travelers back to my area-few there. The kids like all the different types of travelers out there. Using the map tracker to see where they have been amazes them. We will see what we can find for festivals.
