Owner Maintenance on A Portal to the Past
I checked on the cache after last month's big rain storms, and everything's in good shape and ready for the local New Year's Day festivities. Enjoy your visit to Pasadena!

Happy December! Complete with 80-degree weather, no less! sweetpea greeted us with her new smile, and ohmydarlin was talking up a storm as mdawaffe and I arrived to the full table, and we enjoyed catching up with everyone after Thanksgiving and hearing about holiday plans and caching adventures. Hope the weather is this nice for the Rose Parade, and thanks for wrapping up 2025 with this tasty taco tradition. We'll see you next year!

After a fun visit to LACMA, mdawaffe and I wandered around Little Ethiopia before meeting friends for a tasty dinner, and this nearby cache was an obvious stop. With the business closed for the evening, we could only look at some of the sweet offerings through the windows, but it was definitely a quieter time to search. A few hints gleaned from old logs led to the sneaky hiding spot for a fairly quick find even in the dark, and thanks for the cache.

Found Project 23 Location - La Brea Tar Pits walking tour Adventure Lab Cache
( # 00000 )
mdawaffe and I enjoyed a great walk through Hancock Park and its tar pits before visiting LACMA on a beautiful SoCal "winter" afternoon. It's one of my favorite places to bring out of town guests, but it's been a few years since our last time, and it was nice to see some new caches in the area. None of the ongoing excavations were active today, but it's always neat to see examples of the recovered bones that help us reconstruct the ancient local landscape. I could watch the thick bubbles all day, and thanks for the fun tour of this unique spot.

It's interesting to picture the ancient landscape that trapped and preserved animals for millennia, and our answers have been sent. Thanks for the earthcache.

I love visiting La Brea Tar Pits with its gooey window into the past, and mdawaffe and I enjoyed our walk though the park on a lovely afternoon on our way to LACMA. I could watch the thick bubbles all day long, and since we got the chance to see some much smaller modern sloths in the wild earlier this year, I tracked down a giant ground sloth statue for my photo. None of the ongoing excavations were active today, but it's always neat to see examples of the recovered bones that help us reconstruct the ancient local landscape that certainly looked wildly different. Thanks for the fun virtual!
