Make it to Pensacola, FL. Obtain a signature of a current Blue Angels pilot or take a photo at their training grounds in Pensacola.
Return to the South Bay Area of San Francisco.
In the late 1960's my dad was a Navy Chief in charge of the mechanics for the transport plane that flew with the famed Blue Angels. He has since retired and is now living in the San Francisco Bay area.
While gardening recently, I excavated this diecast Blue Angels toy my now grown boys played with close to 20 years ago. It's a bit worse for wear, but I thought it would make an ideal travel item to honor my Dad's many years of service in the Navy.
We would be delighted to have him travel around so that my Dad can track his antics. Placing the TB near various Navy bases would be very cool. It would also be lovely if this TB could join our fine troops in Iraq. Please take lots of photos and descriptions of your travels so my Dad can enjoy following Blue Angels' journey.
Ultimately, he should pass through Pensacola, FL. A signature from a current Blue Angels pilot would be wonderful. If that's not possible, a photo of the TB in the area would be nice.
Please return the little guy to the San Francisco South Bay. Thanks!

On Christmas Eve day, we visited the Valley of Fire, and that night I got to hang around the Christmas tree with the lights and stars. On Christmas Day, we visited Hoover Dam. Merry Christmas streetwalker1 and to your dad! -BATB

Picked up this nice Blue Angels travel bug so it could spend Christmas with CarlottaP and me, as well as the rest of the Oaknest family.

We visited Nellis Air Force Base and found a nearby cache, Birds of Prey. We saw some F-15s flying overhead. Then Oaknest and CarlottaP took me over to the main gate to meet the Thunderbirds, the Air Force's aerobatic flight team. Oaknest says "Too bad it takes them 2 miles of cement runway to land, and Blue Angels can land on a moving 500 ft. deck on an aircaraft carrier."

We made a quick stop at Edwards Air Force Base . Oaknest tells me that he visited the NASA facility here several years ago and saw the original 2 F-18s being modified by NASA for flight-research experiments.
Next stop: Las Vegas.

We visited Lemoore Naval Air Station, found a cache just outside the gate. Then we went to the front gate and took photos of airplanes on display. I saw an FA-18, an A-7 and an A-4. I think the FA-18 and I are related! While CarlottaP was taking photos, 2 Military Police stopped by to ask what we were doing. They looked at the photos that she'd taken, and then we talked about geocaching and my trip.
Oaknest told me he used to be stationed here at Lemoore with VA-122 when it was an A-7 training squadron. VFA-122 is now an FA-18 training squadron where he's sure some Blue Angel pilots were trained.

We started our road trip early in the morning and watched the sun rise as we drove east. I got to sit on the dashboard of the SUV and we listened to Christmas CDs. It was cold and windy all day, we saw lots of snow, it rained several times, and we drove through sandstorms as thick as fog.
