Visited Downtown/Main Street USA: Springfield, NJ (GC1N81K)
We took Little Lisa today to 4 Springfield, NJ geocache sites, taking photos all along the way. At each cache today our intention was to drop her, but each cache proved to be too small to fit Little Lisa. So it was a much larger tour than originally intended.
Cache #1 today was the nearest cache we could find to the Cannon Ball House in Springfield. This special house was built in 1740, and when the town was burned to the ground by the British in the Battle of Springfield (1780) it was one of only 3 buildings to survive the fire. A cannon ball had struck and wedged itself into a beam of the building where it stayed until rusting and falling out in the 1920's. And this is how this historic house got its name.
Cache #3 today was in a nice Springfield park called Charles Cohn Park and the cache was a memorial tribute called "In Memory Of Christopher and Susan Phillips". A 64 year old mother and a 27 year old son both fell ill of fatal heart issues on the exact same day, neither knowing that the other had fallen ill and passed. Unfortunately, I forgot to show that Little Lisa TB had visited this touching cache, and don't have the Serial Number to correct and properly log this 3rd visit of 4 today.
