Chesapeake Crabs

This Maryland Geocoin is named after fond memories of a crab feast I enjoyed on the shores of Chesapeake Bay near Baltimore in the 1970s with my brother and his wife’s family. Crab lines were left dangling over jetties while we went sailing, and when we returned a huge load of crabs and sweetcorn was cooked and laid out on a beach banquet table under the hot summer sun.

It seemed to me that this was the land of the plenty, and that Nature was good, beautiful and bountiful. Now, apparently, Chesapeake Bay and its marine ecology is suffering from oxygen depletion and various pollutants which have created ‘dead-zones’.
What are we doing to our beautiful planet?


The actual Maryland geocoin stays with the owner. This is a replica for placing in the cache in an attempt to discourage those lovely non-muggles who like to "collect" (ie steal) other people's geocoins.

Had a lovely walk over one of hills in the Lake District today. A place of rivers, becks, lakes and tarns. A pretty unspoilt area with excellent water quality. Loughrigg Tarn is a marvellous example of a Lakeland tarn with a rich and diverse ecosystem.

😁 We have placed this special coin in our new cache - 'Take me to the river' by Talking Heads- one of Robbos Tunes 2 Treasure series dedicated to happy family memories of times we spent time together adventuring - (the 3 Musketeers)- around and near our home in Kendal.
Today when we hid the box it was a beautiful sunny day, David's 66th birthday, (he doesn't look it) and next to a lovely part of the River Kent on the Dalesway long distance walk. Here fish can still breathe and as we walked along we saw a kingfisher, a heron and Mother Duck with 11 ducklings!! I think this is a great place for Chesapeake Memories and we hope that the cache is approved so it will be a great place for him to continue his journey from.

😁 Found this in a grand place near some smashing waterfalls and we will move to another good place as we too like to be near water where fish can breathe.
