About This Item

This geocoin was placed by US Army Corps of Engineers Park Rangers at the National Great Rivers Museum in Alton, IL. The National Great Rivers Museum, a 12,000-square-foot facility located adjacent to the Melvin Price Locks and Dam, is the result of a collaboration of the Corps and the nonprofit Meeting of the Great Rivers Foundation. The museum invites you to "rediscover your connection to the river"! Explore over 20 interactive exhibits that tell the stories of the Mississippi River, view "The Power of the River", a 25-minute film about the river's importance in our 100-seat Discovery Theater, browse The Confluence Store for river related books and gifts, or join a free tour of the Melvin Price Locks and Dam at 10AM, 1PM, or 3PM during your visit to the museum.
