Retrieve It from a Cache 3/8/2004 Sher & Kelly retrieved it from GeoQuilt..........Ottawa Ontario, Canada   Visit Log

We found Scooby today. He wants to head to the Caribbean and we aren't sure when we'll be getting there. So...we'll find a new cache for him in a little while and hopefully someone can move him nearer his goal. In the mean time he is visiting with our 3 dogs Molly, Tika & Pheonix; romping in the dog yard and munching on goodies.
We might take him up to Midland with us to visit my sister.

After a couple of disappointments with muggled caches and a few DNFs, Scooby is off on another adventure and hopefully away from all the snow.

  • Scooby on GT racer With a toque and scarf made by my daughter so Scooby wouldn't get cold, we went out to play in the winter wonderland after a beautiful snowstorm.
  • Snow pile Well it's soft, white and all over the place but it's not exactly the sands of the Carribean but then there isn't the worries of sunburn or bugs either and this stuff is quite edible. Tastes like chicken!
  • Minus 29 C Oh look it's warmed up since this morning!!! Wondering if the beach will be open today. Don't ever put your wet nose on the brass doorknob at these temperatures. "I can't feel my tail anymore!"
  • Mtbiking geocacher "MARK MARK....I think my nose is blocked!" Scooby. Heading out geocaching on the mountainbike, no bugs, no mud....turns out there was no cache either but we did sneak in a wonderful ride in the Larose forest just before another snowstorm came in.
  • Old saw blade Scooby on the cutting edge of some old technology. After the failed cache hunt in the Larose forest we discovered a tiny museum and memorial to the now ghost town of Gagnon, Ontario. The other pictures from outside probably didn't turn out because of the raging snowstorm taking place at the time.

The plaque reads: "Buried for over 80 years under 60 cm of soil, this saw was found on July 3, 2002 by Denis Gagnon, Denis Pommainville and Edgar Pommainville on the property of Tom Joiner whe

Well the kids had the day off from school and my youngest was bored silly, so we gambled with the weather and went on a hunt. She loved it and the forest offered enough shelter from the nasty weather to make the hunt enjoyable. My daughter, Pooky, spotted the cache container first (she's closer to the ground) and quickly navigated through the tangle of branches leaving me behind. What a wonderful moment as Pooky and Scooby first met and bonded with lots of hugs and kisses on an otherwise dreary day. Ok, I'm getting teary now.
Scooby is being pampered and spoiled as he awaits his Xmas in the great white north. He was quite excited at the recent snowstorms and also by the lack of bugs. Scooby has the job of guarding the presents while he waits for Pooky to get better so they can head out geocaching again.
One possible cache just across the border seems to have been muggled so it looks as if we might go with Plan B and head out to the airports with the hope that it would be easier to hitch a ride south from there.

Picked up Scooby out of his Kawarthas pit stop. I will try and get him pointed farther south. Could be tough cause winter is coming on fast.

Scooby did enjoy paragliding, and spent a pleasant summer with us on Fairy Lake Island on Stoney Lake. But now he is squashed into a little silver box at Cedar Beaver waiting for some kind soul to take him somewhere warm for the winter. I sure hope someone comes along. It can get mighty cold in the winter around here.

Looks like Scooby went walkabout since the last notation and ended up at the IXL cache in Henry Cowell Park (Felton, CA). He looks remarkably well fed and we will try to keep him that way. As he seems to enjoy flying, I will take him paragliding on Saturday and see how he likes that.

We were surprised and pleased to find Scooby out playing in the Nevada sand... he seemed to be chasing invisible things around the desert :o) We will take Scooby back to Paradise, CA to chase a few of our cats. It's gonna be tough to better the adventures of the past, but we'll do our part in getting Scooby closer to an international airport in order to achieve the Caribbean goal. Thanks, for the fun. Rock&Crystal (and Pebble, too)
