I am a gypsum crystal found along I-90 just east of the rest areas east of Buffalo, Wyoming the summer of 1988. Remember the summer if 88? Everything was on fire out west. Remember the drought? My owner was at the South Dakota school of Mines Field Camp that summer in Sand Creek Canyon in the northern Black Hills. If you're ever passing through on I-90, take the Beulah, Wyoming exit and drive south. You won't be disappointed. Breathed in a lot of smoke that summer! Later that summer watched Yellowstone burn down! Could you guess my owner is a geologist? My purpose in life is to travel to and all over my home state and have my picture taken with anything "geologic". Be creative, there is so much out there that has to do with geology, but in Wyoming you can't look anywhere without seeing something geologic!

Very cool! I see you have left the geologic confines of Wyoming and traveled to geological spots far ans wide. Will move you to one that is not too far from this spot, but with a very interesting history.

Gypsum was drawn to the edge of the Great Salt Lake, where I decided to leave him. Almost back to Wyoming!

Sorry it took so long to drop this off.
I traveled west and placed it by one of the great California aqueducts in the Central Valley...I thought it might like to visit the rich soils.

Picked this up when visiting our daughter in college; she was born the same year the gypsum crystal was found! Loved the history behind the travel bug! Will find another "geological" area to leave it.
