Current Goal

I am a gypsum crystal found along I-90 just east of the rest areas east of Buffalo, Wyoming the summer of 1988. Remember the summer if 88? Everything was on fire out west. Remember the drought? My owner was at the South Dakota school of Mines Field Camp that summer in Sand Creek Canyon in the northern Black Hills. If you're ever passing through on I-90, take the Beulah, Wyoming exit and drive south. You won't be disappointed. Breathed in a lot of smoke that summer! Later that summer watched Yellowstone burn down! Could you guess my owner is a geologist? My purpose in life is to travel to and all over my home state and have my picture taken with anything "geologic". Be creative, there is so much out there that has to do with geology, but in Wyoming you can't look anywhere without seeing something geologic!

In Juneau today, nice and rainy. We were going to drop Gypsum off here, but all the local caches are too small for him.

Stopped by in Skagway today. We watched the salmon run for a little while, but unfortuntely many of them have reached their final stop. Gypsum wanted to help, but we explained the role of the salmon and he seemed to understand a little better.

There is actually less to do in Deadhorse than in Coldfoot. However, my wife and I joined the Polar Bear Club, but we couldn't convince Gypsum to join us. The Arctic Ocean was 36 and the air temp with wind chill was 24degrees.

  • Arctic Ocean. BRRR!

Not much to see in Coldfoot. We did visit the Gates of the Arctic National Park, but that was a about it.

Didn't have much time in Fairbanks to site see, but Gypsum wanted to visit a cache to prove that he has been there.
