Your mission, should you choose to accept it, will be to help the hammer find its way around the globe on a whirl-wind tour. Each member of our family has chosen a ‘pit-stop’ for the hammer to visit and hopefully be photographed along the way. Undoubtedly, ‘The Little Orange Hammer’ will encounter untold adventures with many new friends and fellow adventurers. After countless miles on the road and in the air through many different countries, cities and towns, we anticipate that the hammer will be ready to return home and share the holidays with us once again. Here's the list:
Mexico City, Mexico (Garrison)
Amalfi Coast, Italy (Nanette)
The Blue Grotto on the Island of Capri, Italy (John)
Sweden (Abigail)
Iceland (Dad)
Samarkand, Uzbekistan (Drew)
Easter Island, Chile (Mom)
Sydney, Australia (Sydney)
The Galapagos Islands, Ecuador (with a tortoise if possible) (Kari)
Congratulations! By choosing to retrieve this little orange hammer, you’ve chosen to become part of an epic journey. This little orange hammer transcended all expectations of the typical toy hammer, and secured a place in our family’s holiday tradition long before it was chosen for such a bold and daring journey.
One Christmas many years ago, the family chose to add a new twist to our gift exchange. We chose to add a ‘white elephant’ gift exchange of sorts, so that the kids could participate without having to dig too deep into their piggy banks. Abigail, my youngest niece, after digging deep into her personal stash of incredibly precious things, chose to sacrifice the toy hammer from her Fischer Price medical kit. Being as popular as it was, the hammer was re-gifted time after time, and appeared in the gift exchange every year until we finally did away with the tradition a few years ago.
Needless to say, this little hammer has become an important part of our family’s holiday tradition. At the same time its pretty obvious that this little orange hammer has a deep innate desire to go much further than any other hammer that came before. We decided to let the hammer ‘be all it could be’ and send it on its way around the world! God willing, it will return safely to our family again after completing its ambitious round-the-world quest.
Most of the stops on this list are located in far-off lands, and the journey could be very slow going, difficult and could even be dangerous! Therefore, if you are unable to deliver the hammer to one of the pit stops listed above, fear not… ‘The Little Orange Hammer’ is hungry to see the world, and will be happy to take part in any unforeseen detours that may occur along the way.
Thanks for retrieving The Little Orange Hammer’ and helping to fulfill our family’s mission.
