Current Goal

Although Joe Jost has no particular plans, he's always liked the idea of traveling along the Mother Road, Route 66, and would like to be back in Long Beach every once in a while for a schooner of Pabst, a Joe's special (sandwich), pickled egg and some preztels with spicy peppers.

About This Item

Named after a beer bar in Long Beach (now the oldest), Joe Jost likes road trips, beer bar refreshment and some sports, both as a spectator and as a participant. He'd like to visit areas that have both, like the Bucksnort Saloon in Colorado or the Mountain bar in Yosemite. His emancipator, the FunHog, spends 40 or so weekends every year to camp, climb (yes, with ropes), mountain bike, ski and hike. It's possible to see photos of Joe on a wall in Zion or Yosemite in the future. The FunHog's pictures adorn the walls in the establishment, one skiing below the Matterhorn, and another digging for an igloo atop the Palm Springs tram.

    Joe accompanied me on the hike from where we parked (marooned) the car. We reminisced about the souvenir bottles and cans we'd left a his establishment (check out joejost.com), like the aluminum fliegerbier bottle from Germany. Joe just passed through here on his way North. It was a real hole in the wall, with nothing to drink except from the cool stream below.

    Joe was passing through here; He was asleep as we passed the turn-off for Route 66 travels. Oh, well, he'll probably get there eventually. For now, he'll just have to enjoy the ride.
