I would like to send this travel bug on a far flung journey to celebrate my daughter’s life made possible by caring Nurses. Due to Rachel’s illness, we don’t get out often so hopefully this travel bug can go to many different places. So, snap a photo if you can, and if you have a story about a nurse or nursing care in general jot it down. I will update Rachel’s nurses on the journey!
A Tribute to Nursing Travel Bug *
My daughter (Rachel) was born with a Syndrome Called Cri du Chat. (http://www.fivepminus.org/) After spending many weeks in the hospital she came home with a trach, feeding tube, on oxygen, and attached to a heart monitor. The doctors and nurses in the neonatal unit did not expect Rachel would live for very long. We just recently celebrated Rachel’s 16th Birthday! I don’t know if she would have made it this far without the dedicated home health care nurses that have assisted with her care. Coincidentally I now work at a nursing school featured on the keychain that is attached to this Travel Bug. This TB is a tribute to home health care nurses and nurses overall who play a very important and vital role in Health Care in America.
