Verbreitung der Geschichte vom Dodo / Spreading of history of the Dodo
Der Dodo lebte einst glücklich und zufrieden auf den Inseln Mauritius und Réunion im Indischen Ozean. Der etwa schwanengroße Vogel konnte nicht fliegen und das brauchte er auch nicht, denn er hatte ja keine natürlichen Feinde. Doch das Verhängnis begann mit dem Eintreffen der Menschen. Diese merkten schnell, dass man sowohl den Dodo selbst, als auch seine Eier essen konnte und auch für die eingeschleppten Haustiere war der arme Kerl eine leichte Beute. Und so kam es, dass um 1680 der letzte Dodo lebend gesehen wurde. Er wurde quasi aufgegessen und lebt heute leider nur noch in der Erinnerung weiter. Und dazu soll auch dieser Travelbag beitragen.

Once the Dodo lived happy and contently on the islands Mauritius and Réunion in the Indian ocean. The bird, as big as a swan, could not fly and didn’t need to do so, because it had no enemies. But that became its problem, when the first humans arrived. They noticed that they could eat Dodo and its eggs. As well the poor chap was a light booty for the inbrought animals. So it happend that around 1680 the last Dodo was seen alive. By now he only lives in our memory and the travelbag is a contribution to that.
