Mr. Gadget #2, how this username come about for Groundspeak? Long before geocaching began, I had a nickname of being a gadget guy. At my retirement from the fire service, an award certificate was presented to me as” inspector gadget”. When I opened my geocaching account on Feb 10, 2005, I submitted the username as Mr. Gadget”. It was denied as it was already taken. So, I added the “#” making it Mr. Gadget #2.
Then in mid-2009 I decided to have my personal geo coin minted. I contacted Land Sharkz and with their expertise they came up with the artwork for the coin. The back side is the state of Washington and the 39 counties. The 4 counties highlighted in color are the counties where most of my geocaches are placed.
The original order was placed for 300 coins. They are in sequential numbering beginning with 001-050 limited edition, in a premium color detail; 051-100 in a gold limited edition; and 101-300 a nickel-colored coin.
All of the coins are trackable with Geocaching.com, and have a icon feature for your personal profile when logging the coin.
