I found this on a business trip to Virginia from Colorado. Having read it's mission, I thought I'd give a bit of background about my home city of Colorado Springs.

Colorado Springs is the second largest city in Colorado, with about 400,000 people. It's the home of the US Air Force academy, as well as a large army base and several smaller air force bases. It's located at the foot of the Rocky Mountains, with massive peaks to the west and flat plains to the east. Towering above the city is Pikes Peak, one of 53 '14ers' in Colorado over 14,000 feet elevation.

Geocaching is a major activity in Colorado. In face, I know another teacher who also incorporates geocaching into her curriculum. Maybe it would be worth having your class contact hers? Our family found this at the Thick of it (GCGPCN) cache site in Franklin Park in the small town of Purcellville, VA. Purcellville is about 60 miles WNW of Washington DC. It formerly was a farming town, but not really so now -- it is more of a bedroom community for those who wish to work in the DC areae but live out in the country and be able to see the beauty of the Loudoun County area.

This is a wonderful small town at the east edge of the Blue Ridge mountains. There are many civil war sites around this area. This area also has quite a few wineries and many horse breeders/horse farms.
