About This Item

West Union, Iowa - Deeply Connected

This geocoin commemorates and celebrates an ambitious project by the community of West Union, Iowa located in the beautiful Northeast corner of our state.  Our town became a Main Street Community in 2006, was selected as a Green Pilot Community in 2008 and was named an Iowa Great Place in 2009!

Our project is a downtown Green Streetscape Project incorporating porous pavers for our sidewalks and streets, rain gardens, bioswales and implementing a district wide geothermal system.  By incorporating these green components, it our hope to better manage storm water runoff as well as utilizing effective energy solutions for our downtown community.

Our motto, "Deeply Connected" reflects our quality of life values of being connected to our agricultural history, our strong sense of community and our commitment to our past, present and vision for the future!

We broke ground October 2010 and plan to complete the renovation by 2012.

21:00 Just grabbed this one from the cache on a night trackable run around home. I seen there were some trackables dropped in a not so good cache to have them in. I will move this one on. I'm heading up to Michigan next week so I will drop it up there. Thanks for putting it out.
