Visited 4/19/2024 Wombatwandering took it to Timber Ridge Victoria, Australia - 4.24 miles  Visit Log

Visiting some relatives in Doncaster in Melbourne’s east. There was originally a train line planned to go down the Eastern Freeway to Doncaster but why spend money on public transport when you can build more roads and add more lanes on the freeway? So shortsighted. 🚙

Visited 4/18/2024 Wombatwandering took it to Alphington WW1 Soldiers' Memorial Victoria, Australia - 3.77 miles  Visit Log

Took a walk down to the Yarra River from my in-law’s house in Alphington. It’s very pretty down there, you wouldn’t know you were in the suburbs of Melbourne. 🛶

Visited 4/17/2024 Wombatwandering took it to City Circle Tram v2 Victoria, Australia - 21.25 miles  Visit Log

I took an old rattler tram around the city circle so I could find the answers for this cache. I used to take trams like these to school in the late 80s. The modern trams were already in service but you’d still get one of the old trams fairly regularly. They were cold in winter but I never minded them. The W-class tram is a cultural icon to Melbourne: those that remain in the city are classified by the National Trust of Australia. 🎟️

Visited 4/16/2024 Wombatwandering took it to “Now Arriving at Ringwood” Victoria, Australia - 34.85 miles  Visit Log

Lots of things to do today. Raced out to Ringwood in Melbourne’s east to return some camping gear to my friends. Decided I still had a little time to grab some geocachers by Mister Doctor. He makes some great ones. Look them up if you are in the area. Then it was off to the Melbourne International Comedy Festival for a few laughs. 🤣

Visited 4/15/2024 Wombatwandering took it to Yet More Cobblers Victoria, Australia - 21.12 miles  Visit Log

Histion invited us to a craft brewery tour at Stomping Ground in Collingwood, an inner suburb of Melbourne and once I home. I’d move back any day. Collingwood is one of the oldest suburbs in Melbourne and was once a centre of brewing including being the home of Fosters. It’s also the home of the Collingwood Magpies football club, last year’s AFL premiership winners. 🍻

Into Melbourne for a lunch but I checked out the Victorian Parliament House first. Construction began in 1855, and the first stage was officially opened the following year, with various sections completed over the following decades; it has never been completed, and the planned dome is one of the most well known unbuilt features of Melbourne. Between 1901 and 1927, it served as the meeting place of the Parliament of Australia, during the period when Melbourne was the temporary national capital. 🏛️

Lunch with my friend who I’ve had the longest and then we headed to Bundoora Park which was fitting since I met her at school in Bundoora when I first moved to Melbourne. Unbeknownst to me all this time, today I learnt that Bundoora Park hosts the highest peak (an eye watering 137.3m) in the Melbourne metropolitan area, Mt Cooper. Saw some kangaroos and an emu and then it was off to a delicious dinner with my friends who are excellent cooks so it’s always a good night. 🦘

Visited 4/11/2024 Wombatwandering took it to The Bonus Cache Challenge Victoria, Australia - 24.57 miles  Visit Log

Just hanging out with Wombat Mother in the Melbourne western suburb of Werribee. 👩‍👧

Visited 4/10/2024 Wombatwandering took it to Discover The Dome Victoria, Australia - 155.69 miles  Visit Log

You joined Mother Wombat and me at a delicious lunch in Geelong, Victoria’s second largest city. It’s also the home of my football team, The Geelong Cats. They are going really well so far this year so it could all end in tears. The modern name of Geelong, established in 1827, was derived from the local Wadawurrung name for the region, Djilang, thought to mean "land", "cliffs" or "tongue of land or peninsula". 😺
