The Black Bears - AussieBlack from Perth, Western Aust. and KiwiBlack (TB7F54) or KiwiBlack'sDouble (TB1QWC7) [see below Descritption for futher note] from Christchurch NZ, are identical twins who love travelling and would like to meet up somewhere in Scotland. Time is no great objective so if one arrives earlier than the other he would be happy to explore Scotland and/or northern England for a while. (Once he arrived in Scotland and/or northern England and to be REMAINED THERE until KiwiBlack or KiwiBlack'sDouble arrived and met him).
Varuna, who owns AussieBlack, was in NZ for a geocaching and trout fishing holiday. We were looking for new travel bugs and spotted the Black Bears - so got two. Varuna, Sp00k and Ciotach all have some Scottish blood so thought it would be fun to send our Bears to meet in that country. Perhaps we can also meet them there!
The original KiwiBlack went missing in 2004 in USA so about a year later his little brother (red in colour) was released in NZ with the duplicate travel bug tag. In Dec 2007 the original KiwiBlack turned up in a cache in Forida, along with 17 other missing TBs. About the same time the replacement KiwiBlack(Red), who had made it safely to Scotland, also went missing! Since then Red has turned up again, but two bears with identical TB tags but of different colour has caused much confusion. This new tag is being issued to the original KiwiBlack, leaving Red with the original duplicate tag and all his travels logged on the appropriate web page. The original KiwiBlack did not travel far before going missing. He is now getting his own travel log as well as a new tag. Although the new tag is being activated in New Zealand, KiwiBlack'sDouble is being released in Canada.
Another note added April 2010: Red is now missing, his cache was muggled. Hopefully this little black bear can remain travelling!
Flash news: Note added Feb 2014: Both KiwiBlack and KiwiBlack's Double are now missing. Now AussieBlack Bear finally went home to Perth, Australia after travelled 92016.3 kms and visited 1010 caches during 10 years. Special thanks to autum ulula who arranged to send AussieBlack Bear home. It deserves a well rest with Varuna. It will travel with Varuna during geocaching from time to time.
