The mission of this tag is to be seen by as many geocahers as possible. Nocona is Comanche for Wanderer, I hope my truck does lots of wandering.
Nocona was the leader of the Noconi band of the Comanche tribe & father of Quannah Parker, the last Comanche chief to bring his band to a reservation. Quannah's mother was Cynthia Parker, a woman who was kidnapped as a child from her home in Texas & raised as a Comanche. She died soon after being "rescued" by whites & taken back to her birth family. Personally, I believe she died of a broken heart for being ripped from her husband, children & the free life she had grown to love.
That piece of history has struck a chord with me since I read of it. It meant so much to me, I named my dog Nocona because I wanted him to be my traveling companion.
So if you see this Travel Bug running down the road, be sure to take down the number & log it so I'll know you've been on the road with me!
See you there!
