Drove up to Ketchum, Idaho to visit the gravesite if one of my favorite authors. He wrote classics like The Sun Also Rises, For Whom the Bell Tolls, The Old Man and the Sea, and A Farewell to Arms. On a 1954 trip to Africa, he was seriously injured in two plane accidents on successive days, leaving him in pain and ill health for much of the rest of his life. On July 2, 1961, the Nobel Prize-winning author was found dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to his head at his home in Ketchum.
