Current Goal

This bug wants to share with as many aficionados as possible, the original BBC radio productions of the Hitch-Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy, by the late Douglas Adams. Along the way it would not mind visiting any or all of the caches having the Hitch-Hiker's guide as a theme.

22-July-2004 It appears this TB has taken matters into its own hands and redirected its goal to New Mexico. Go for it.
16-September-2004 Well we still haven't seen New Mexico, and now there's a request for the Spokane area. On top of that, there's a longstanding request for a return to Pennsylvania. This sure has been one busy TB.

About This Item

Large Friendly Letters

Many of you who are familiar with the Douglas Adams books may never have heard the original radio shows, which were broadcast in twelve thirty minute episodes between March, 1978 and January, 1980.

This traveler consists of a data CDR containing high quality mp3 files of those twelve shows. They were made from an original BBC audio CD set. The ID3 tags in these files include the dates of original broadcast as well as the performer credits.

After a beautiful crisp walk through the trees my daughter and I found this cache and took Don't Panic with us. I left Buffalo Becky and Buffalo Pete who are trying to get to Santa Barbara, CA.

Retrieved from Company Time in Chelan. Wondering if I should move it toward Seattle for a reunion with the owner. I gave it a listen. Didn't know this was a radio production. I remember when it was on TV in the early 80's.

I checked with the TB's owner in Seattle, and he reminded me that it is a traveller, not a homing pigeon. He said to send it off to Spokane, so awaaaaaayyy it goes!

We rushed out in the cold and rain to grab this guy. We've got a long drive coming up next week, so look for it in Washington...

What a nice surprise, to find this unexpectedly in Cook Park cache. We are both Douglas Adams fans - in fact, one of our first "pre-dating" activities back in college was listening to a copy of the Hitchhiker's tapes (which Alison borrowed from friends down the hall) in Andy's van on the way to a college hockey game. Thanks for those memories! It's still hard to believe that the author is gone...

Anyway, we will have a listen and move them onwards. Thanks!
