About This Item

The GPS Bug

The GPS travel bug has a short and tragic history. After 12 years of flying and 24 years of hiking I had never owned a GPS. Then my sister told me about geocaching.

The next week I bought a Camo GPS on ebay for $85, and after receiving it took my two kids to find three caches in an afternoon; they loved it.

OK, so why am I using a GPS for a travel bug? Well I don't think leaving it on the truck rail hurt it, and I don't think it broke when it fell off the truck rail and hit the street, but it clearly wasn't working after a car drove over it.

So why Schwabach, Germany? Schwabach its a great little Bavarian town with a traditional town square and city park. You should see it sometime. I have relatives in the area and hope to visit them shortly after the bug arrives. PLease keep the GPS bug in the area of Nurnberg. Vielen dank.

We found this one in a very nice cache for which we had to solve a music puzzle. We are not heading for Germany for 6 weeks now, so we will place it in the first regular size we will find.
PS, on the picture you can see how the TB meets a family- member.
